Slow?  Well, SP, if that's the case there's no sign of it so far.  Though I would say that wouldn't I.

The overriding issue for me is the Vista OS a hostile operating environment for 3rd party stuff.  So far it has proved to be; I tried Opera and Firefox and both kept stalling, error reports, load error pop-ups, etc, etc, etc, etc.  So I kept going with IE7&8 even though I know IE is cack security-wise.

Since installing SeaMonkey, firewall, antivirus, antispyware haven't filed any threats/quarantines in their respective history logs.  With IE there'd be threats/quarantines logged every time I browsed.

I was reading a new review on the different browsers the other day and it basically said Seamonkey was Firefox 2 with loads of extensions slowing it down ?

I tried Firefox 4 (Beta1) the otherday and I could tell it was slightly faster however Opera 10.60 is still kicking its backside on the Peacekeeper benchmark

IE7 user here and not adventurous with other browsers these days. It's neither too fast nor too slow! Familiarity breeding contentment (or should that be stick-in-the-mud stubborness)? :chinscratch:

And happy with my customized vista system; fine-tuned and ticking over just nicely. :)

There are only two reasons you need a tv licence in the UK; just having in your possession or owning any kind of equipment whatsoever (including any type of television, radio, computer, screen or aerial) or listening to any radio station are not those reasons.

Tell you what You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login is pretty nifty.  I like it because it has all the Google spyware taken out and extra's put in

I'm trying out the new Chrome 6 at the minute and quite impressed by its speed too.  They've tweaked the menu slightly and added a PDF reader :)

Trying out Firefox 4 now its on Beta 6.  Had to use another theme to get rid of the Windows Title Bar though so they've still not got that sorted for XP  -

I see IE9 won't run on Windows XP when it comes out.

Windows XP is still extemely popular, and when Micro$oft release IE9 it will be one more excuse for people to try an alternative browser from the 'norm'...

Because it uses DX10 for GPU acceleration while FF & Chrome are using OpenGL, I believe anyway.

I've come across at least two new games that will only work on Vista/Win7.  It does seem strange that software houses are starting to shun XP while its still supported till 2015

Does anyone have any plans to ditch windows once XP bites the dust?

Windows 7 is OK but you get the feeling that they do not want you 'under the bonnet' you feel very locked out....

I am seriously considering going back to LINUX.
Don't bin your analogue TV!- It is a valuable tool for licence resistance!

Ever get that feeling that somebody wants you to upgrade your software and hardware and spend money in the process on a yearly basis? You can buy a 200-300 quid new graphics card today and in 6 months it's worth half that. Computer hardware is like mobile phones... you can buy the latest phone today for mega-bucks and a new and better one will come out tomorrow.  :(

It isn't Microsoft who are behind the games though, they're only behind IE9

Yes they seem to be making the new operating systems PEBKAC safe but you can get around all that stuff.
