SCARF.ORG.UK suspect visit
« on: November 10, 2011, 05:48:48 PM »
Had a strange visit today that rang alarm bells re capita involvemet although probably not in this case.

Firstly the address is VERY remote and if I get an unexpected visitor once a year then that is greater than average...

Today two people called in a vehicle labelled scarf.org.uk. (not .co.uk as I originally typed)

When challenged they purported to be calling in connection with possibly grants for insulation (cold calling I hasten to add), but the strange thing is that while parking at the main entrance to the house they ignored that, did not knock on the door, but started instead to go round to the back of the property until stopped by me and told to get lost.

So far the company involved has failed to answer as to why their staff behaved in this manner but have acknowledged a WOIRA notification.

They also claim to be council funded so I have complained to Aberdeenshire council as well but that reply will take an age and be pretty useless.

You've given two different URLs there. I'll go with the second one

Looks like a vaguely legitimate company to me. Which doesn't answer the question of why they invited themselves around the back of your property...

yes they SEEM to be legitimate, it's the staight to poking around rather than coming to the door that concerns me,

I have reported it to both their manager, the council and informed the police as well (but just a suspcious activity and given them the license plate).

Honestly, what's wrong with outfits like this?   They get public money (taxpayer's money) to do something and think they can just enter and wander around people's property willy-nilly and uninvited.  Maddening.

I'm actually getting more annoyed, the council claims that they tried the front door and they started to avoid the issue when sent footage from some of the 12 IP cameras that showed them ignoring the front door (visible from where they parked) and heading round the side of the house.

This is what I sent to the council before they stopped claiming that he tried the door first.....

Firstly some images from the side of the house of the van arriving and the driver walking around the side of the house (which is away from the door), notice the timestamps are a small number of seconds apart

Firstly image cam04trg20111110132343 is the vehicle arriving

As is cam04trg20111110132345 where it is stopped or about to stop

Then we have the suspect walking around the side of the house AWAY from the main door in cam04trg20111110132423 approx 30 seconds from getting out of the vehicle, notice that these images are from the same camera!

We then have him caught in the act by me after I exited via the front door and walked to the side of the house in cam01trg20111110132429

And we have a view from the front of me leaving the house (nothing at all of the suspect on that camera since he did not go to the front door at any point) in cam06trg20111110132425

And the vehicle starting to leave while nearly hitting my car in cam07trg20111110132619

And to show the position of door to vehicle this one shows both

cam07trg20111110132516

But instead of gong to the door he went straight around the front side of the house (to the left of the image).

However as you can see should capita ever nose around then they will be captured on camera very easily.

I'd keep well away from that company after looking at the website

I love the ID card on a lanyard!

Anyone could make an ID card. They even come in childrens' toys.
